ABOUT US

Alison O’Hara and her daughter Katia Holmes own and operate True North. Established as True North Kayak Adventures in 1992, the company grew slowly from a dream and a fleet of just four kayaks to the present True North Adventures. We offer kayak trips, SUP trips, and two water taxis to provide adventurers access to the Alaskan wilderness inaccessible by road. We also now offer some new adventures and a rental house and cabin on Hesketh Island.

Alison, one of the original True North founders, likes to guide kayak trips and is busy developing exciting new adventures. In the winter, she is a nordic ski coach, is an active member of the Homer Women’s Nordic Ski Team, and sneaks off to the tropics occasionally. She holds a USCG Master’s License and has completed the British Canoe Union 4 Star training.

We believe in hiring local guides to provide you with an authentic Alaskan experience. All guides have a minimum of CPR and First Aid certifications. Our guides come from all different backgrounds but have a solid connection to Homer, Alaska. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions!
